Jan Bułhak (1876-1950), studied photography with Hugo Erfurth in Dresden and worked as his assistant before opening his own studio in Wilno in 1912, where he specialized in photographing the architecture and monuments of Poland. He was a co-founder of the Wilno Photo Club (1927), and the Polish Photo Club (1929), and manager of the Institute of Photography at Uniwersytet Stefana Batorego (1919-1939).
